I Heard Trails and Jump

Naturally when I heard trails and jump, which may or may not have been said exactly the way I heard, I said "absolutely" as those are two of my favorite activities!

Goose is a natural on the trail. He loves to go first and has what my friend and I refer to as an 8mph walk (really its closer to 4 or 5, but 8 sounds so fast.) It is not rushing, just loose and forward! And I've had lots of opportunity to ask him to canter, which he is willing and enjoys. He might enjoy it so much that last time out he was asking to go faster often, so I thought that was the day to take it slow. He lead through the woods on a deer trail that we are slowly making into a horse trail, meaning its rough and not very clear as yet and depending on the route, quite downhill this time. Judy has helped Goose understand his balance and downhill is not hard for him at all. He sits and slows and uses his hind end and back very well.

Water was a little different issue. He probably has never seen so much water in one place and was not keen on getting his toes wet.  We stood there awhile, then Laurie took his lead rope and yes! he wet his feet! We will visit this spot more and the creek at Elijah Bristow State Park. I am sure there will be lots of more stories of trail rides to come.
