Water

So sorry there are no pictures to go with this tail of our ride at Bristow state park today !

Kind of a grey day , but not too cold , so not a bad day to see how Goose faired with water . We were having a nice start to the ride , meet some friends, found some obstacles to play with and headed down the trail . Open spot and we decided to have a trot , came upon a puddle which  stopped Goose dead in his tracks ! Laughing we stood for a few minutes then proceeded gently around the edge , hum I thought wonder how this water Intro will go . More puddles , no real worry . An hour or so into the ride we found a nice quite spot of water , but a little bit of a slope , Felix lead the way , a little hesitant but willing , deeper than we thought it would be, but slow moving . Well goose thought it wasn’t such a good idea so with at least a sniff we brought Felix back across and went to find a new spot .

Next chance was the corner where you can step into the Willamette . The river is high as they must be letting water through the dam, so pretty exciting , but low and behold he thought it was much better place and stepped in all four feet checked it out and out we came ! Success

On down the trail , great spot for some trotting . Over the bridge no problem . Then we discovered a new little trail with a bit of a water spot and although Goose didn’t want to go first he followed Felix this time without much hesitation . Well it turned out to be a dead end so turned around and now we were leading and he went back through the spot just fine !

Now for a fun spot . There were several choices on which way to go so we let the horses decide , Felix Was in front and went left yet Goose decided to go right ! Ok. Felix took the bait and tuned around to follow and somehow he ended up in front again . Came to the next choice Felix again went left , which was the correct way to get back , but Goose insisted we should go right ! Which was really taking us around in a loop, so I let him go to see what would happen . He got all the way to where we had been before and he stopped and looked at all his choices and then realized he should go back the way we came , that’s when he called for Felix ! Silly goose . As we were headed back to Felix I saw a Bald eagle fly over ! Which felt really wonderful!

Well back together and headed in the right direction we got to the Lost  creek crossing . It’s about  40 ft across , rocky bottom , flowing pretty fast , about knee deep... He followed Felix straight in an across !  So proud of him !
