Nova — Releasing 10.26.2020
This is a short video of Nova walking in the picadero (36' square pen). It shows that she is starting to maintain her walk and that her head and neck are beginning to release from their holding pattern. Her norm is/was to move with either an upside-down posture, or with tension through her neck while holding her head almost behind the vertical. I wonder if this tension and muscling pattern are a result of previous use of side-reins.
Each day that I work with Nova I notice something good about her previous training.
Things I've noticed about Nova's previous training:
- She is happy to go over small jumps
- she takes contact with the long-line reins at a distance of 12 '
- she is not spooky in my arena even under saddle at the walk
- she is safe to be around (although pushy for food)
- she is ok being touched all over and enjoys having her face brushed
- her temperament seems to be a 3 on a scale of 1 - 10
